XERO Bookkeeper (Europe / Int'l Accounting Firm Experience)

In the position of a General Accountant, your primary responsibility is to assist the team in generating accurate, timely, and valuable financial reports for clients. Your role plays a critical part in ensuring the accurate and prompt entry, posting, and reconciliation of financial data. By upholding the integrity of financial records and reports, you empower clients with the essential information they need to efficiently manage and expand their businesses.

What you’ll do:

  • Retrieval of invoices from client accounts' inboxes and online supplier accounts
  • Review and coding of supplier invoices in HubDoc
  • Posting and review of supplier invoices in Xero
  • Email contact with suppliers re supplier statements, credit notes, basic queries via client accounts' email
  • Supplier statement reconciliation
  • Preparation of creditors listing
  • Preparation of invoices to be billed to clients' customers
  • Reconciliation of income recognized in Xero vs clients' billing systems
  • Basic customer accounts queries e.g. statement requests etc.
  • Preparation of aged debtors in Xero
  • Bank reconciliation in Xero
  • Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts for the preparation of the month-end reports
  • Analytical review of month-end reports to assess if the numbers align with our understanding of the clients' business
  • Preparation of VAT (Sales Tax) reports in Xero.
  • Reviewing VAT reports in Xero and amending of mis postings in line with Revenue VAT rules

What to Bring:

  • Attention to detail: Very low error rate while keeping ability to move swiftly
  • Highly organized: Can plan workload in advance and manage a number of competing responsibilities
  • Efficiency: Able to produce significant output with minimal wasted effort
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a General Accountant or in a similar accounting role.
  • History of promotion in a similar role
  • Worked on portfolio of clients at some stage in their career, not only in accounting department of a single company
  • Bilingual written and spoken English
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and clients.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Xero and applications marketplace is a plus
  • Bonus if experience working for an accounting firm in an English speaking country
